The Digital Media Mom’s Guide To Tech Security And App Permissions Is Now Available!

This is where I’d usually be running a Tech Frustration Friday meme, but today I’m doing more than commiserating with your tech frustration: I’m offering solutions!

Since launching this site I’ve come to realize there’s an awful lot of fear and confusion out there among non-tech-savvy consumers where tech and app security are concerned, and that there are plenty of people and companies who stand to profit by keeping consumers scared. If you’re not being victimized by hackers and spammers, you’re being victimized by people and companies who claim to be on your side, but won’t tell you the unvarnished truth: that there’s not nearly as much to fear as you’ve been led to believe, and the threats that truly exist are pretty easily avoided.

I got so fed up with this state of affairs that I finally decided to write a book that can arm consumers with the information they need to stay safe:

My new book, The Digital Media Mom’s Guide To Tech Security And App Permissions is now available in Kindle format and it’s priced at $2.99, just like The Digital Media Mom’s Guide To High Tech In Plain English. Both books currently have an average review rating of 5/5 stars.

If you’re already thinking, “Darn! I don’t have a Kindle or Kindle Fire,” don’t worry: thanks to Amazon’s many FREE Kindle reader apps, you don’t need a Kindle to read Kindle books. Whatever your chosen device, there’s a Kindle Reader app for that!

In The Digital Media Mom’s Guide To Tech Security And App Permissions, I address such topics as:

– The simple steps I use to secure my own devices and data: so easy, anyone can use them!

– Simple steps anyone can use to avoid hackers, spammers and malware

– How to tell if a given Android app’s permissions are reasonable, or suspicious

– How to be a smart shopper when it comes to looking at app reviews

– My own method for secure password creation and management

– What the Accounts, Account Manager and AuthToken Android app permissions are all about, and why they’re actually a GOOD thing

– and much more!
